Doesburg Dice (2011).
Maurer United designed several public space furniture pieces located at the Amsterdam Piet Hein Kade. By assignment of Ymere the objects were designed to sit on, climb on and communicate with. In total eleven typographic dices in three different sizes The dice designs are based on a font by Theo van Doesburg. He designed the font almost one century ago for the ‘Stijlgroep’. The three-dimensional variation of the font is combined into six dices that together contain the complete alphabet. The objects can be rolled in order to form different words and sentences. The ‘typographic space’ and experience changes with every combination.
