UM Visitors' Centre (2006).
A masterplan was developed for Maastricht University in order to make the faculties, that for a large part are housed in very old, city centre buildings, more visible. The plan included a varied series of recommendations that would enhance their connection and recognizability. The most important element was the realisation of a Visitors’ Centre as a new main entrance to the city campus. This was realised in an old convent church in accordance with the plan. The contemporary interior with interactive media applications was made to measure for the existing building. A central feature is the ‘traptribune’ (stair rostrum), which is a large staircase that can also be used as a rostrum.
